| Vikings Cheerleader Game-Worn Items with Stains for Sale |
From Beckett: "I'm a little scared to ask, but, "What's next?" NFL Cheerleader game-worn items now are available from the Vikings Web site. The site states this caveat: "These are unique game worn products and may ship with make-up stains, safety pins and perfume scent." It's uncomfortable to me that someone would pay $80 for a cheerleader's Santa hat, and perhaps end up sniffing the Santa hat when it arrives. Today, Cheerleader-worn Santa hats. Tomorrow . . . well, what do you think?" My take: Ooooh. Those kind of stains. Call me perverted, but stains from a sweaty groin area were what came in to mind when I read the headline on Beckett.com. Regarding the items themselves - if you actually pay money for one of these things, you are a sick person...this is very stalker-ish. What the hell would someone want with a cheerleader's freaking Santa hat? Like the article mentioned - what are you going to do with it? Sniff it?

| Anna Nicole Auctions Escalate After Her Death |
From Beckett: "eBayers unfortunately decided that now is the opportunity to sell their stockpiles of Anna Nicole Smith collectibles. I am almost – almost -- ashamed to know this, but in 1999 a set of 1:64 die-cast cars were produced and painted up with each of the Playboy Playmates from previous years. This set was updated in 2000 with different packaging. These were tagged as Adult Collectibles. They retailed initially at $10. But back to eBay. There were six auctions for these cars listed in the past two weeks and the cars sold for $5 to $10. Last night and this morning, an additional 50-plus were posted for sale with BIN asking prices increasing five-fold. I honestly don't know what to think about this. These cars are selling like hotcakes." My take: I still think this is sad. This is the same debate we had with Corey Lidle's death. Although I can see both sides, and the opinion is pretty much 50/50 on Beckett's message boards, I still couldn't look myself in the mirror after putting all of my collectibles of a recently deceased person up on eBay. Capitalizing on death just seems wrong to me and it's something I wouldn't do.

| Upper Deck to Produce First James Naismith Cut Signature |
From Beckett: "Upper Deck has announced plans for a new high-end basketball product slated for late-June called Upper Deck Chronology. The main "calling card" for the product is the first cut signature of hoops creator James Naismith. In fact, it will be Naismith's first mainstream card in 15 years." My take: Ah. Finally some "normal" good news in the world of collectibles. Dr. Naismith was an innovator and a great historical figure in both sports and American culture, and this is one signature that every collector would love to have in their collection.
