| Tuff Stuff Having McFarlane Legends Figures Giveaway |
Beginning December 1, visitors to TuffStuff.com that fill out a questionnaire will be entered in a contest to win one of six McFarlane NFL legends figures. I am not sure what the questionnaire will consist of (you won't be able to see it until tomorrow) but it better be pretty short if that is all they are giving away. I love the idea of promotional give away's, but come on guys. Tuff Stuff is the best magazine in the industry (in my opinion). Don't you think they could give away something more than six figures that probably cost them $50? SportsLizard.com has given away an NFL 6 case and a few variant figures, for example. And we are a lot smaller than they are. My point is - show your customers you care by offering a real incentive. [read official release]

| Bat From Final World Series Out Being Auctioned Off |
The bat used by Houston’s Orlando Palmeiro, who grounded to short for the final out of the Series, will be put up for auction by Geppi’s Memorabilia Road Show. The online auction will begin on December 1 and end on December 18. There will be a minimum bid of $1,000, with the estimate coming in at $75,000-$150,000. There is no reserve. I guess this is pretty cool. But what I really want to know is who wrote this article. The third to last paragraph says "Wouldn't it be something if the winning bidder also happens to have the bat used by the Giants’ Lew McCarty, who grounded to second for the final out of the 1917 World Series?" Is that supposed to be a joke? Oh, I get it - then he would own the bats for the last out of the last two White Sox Championships. Ha-ha-ha. Wouldn't it be something if you just wrote the article and stopped trying to be funny. [read article]

| Collector Pulls Card With Autographs From Four Original Hall of Famers |
Barry Scott of Guntown, Mississippi opened a pack of 2005 Upper Deck SP Legendary Cuts that contained a once in a lifetime card featuring the signatures of Babe Ruth, Ty Cobb, Honus Wagner, and Walter Johnson, four of the five inductees into the inaugural class of the Baseball Hall of Fame. The card, which has an estimated value of $20,000, went up for auction today. The article goes on to say "According to Scott, a Mississippi collector has already offered him $50,000 for the card." Ummm...OK. So experts say it will go for $20,000 + in an auction. And he was offered $50,000 and still decided to put it up for auction? Hey Barry, $50,000 is greater than $20,000. A lot greater. You better hope you get more than that in the auction. [read article] |
