McDonald's Auctions off Team Canada Mini-Jerseys
McDonald's recently announced that they are auctioning off six autographed Team Canada Mini-Jerseys on eBay.ca. The proceeds will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) of Canada. Autographs include Joe Sakic, Jerome Iginla, Rick Nash, Vincent Lecavalier, Martin Brodeur, Joe Thornton, as well as an autographed letter from Wayne Gretzky. "With the generous support of McDonald's and Hockey Canada, the funds raised through these auctions will allow RMHC to support projects that benefit special kids and their families across Canada," explained Rem Langan, President, RMHC. "This will help fulfill RMHC's objective of helping improve the physical and emotional well-being of children in need." This whole thing is great. These mini-jerseys are absolutely amazing and so is the display case that they come in. I encourage you to bid if you are a hockey collector - what could be better then adding a great piece of memorabilia and helping some kids in need? Sports collectibles could use more giving back like this. [read release]

Steve Nash to be on Wheaties Box
Reigning NBA Most Valuable Player Steve Nash will be featured on Wheaties boxes in late April. The 12- and 18-ounce Wheaties packages will be sold nationally. Nash is the first Phoenix Suns player to appear on a Wheaties box. Normally this wouldn't be big news. However, when asked if he would send a few boxes of Wheaties to his former boss, Mavericks owner Mark Cuban Nash replied "Sure. Looking at his waistline, I'm not sure how healthy he eats." That's classic, absolutely classic. [read release]

SportsLizard.com Adds Sports Fan Auctions to Browsing/Searching
Yesterday we added Sports Fan Auctions to our enhanced browsing and search results. Sports Fan Auctions launched in February. Their goal is to create a "Market Place for Sports Fans to buy and sell sports memorabilia for free." The thing that jumps out to any collector is that it's FREE. Needless to say, if you sell collectibles, why not try selling your stuff there? The only thing it's going to cost you is a few minutes of your time. Sports Fan Auctions has a large selection of cards, something that has always been lacking on SportsLizard.com. We have traditionally catered to autograph and McFarlane collectors more than card collectors. Hopefully now everyone can find what they are looking for using our enhanced browsing and search function! [try enhanced browsing]
